THE OAKS SCHOOL - CHOOSE ACT FUNDS FOR PRIVATE SCHOOL

1. Funds Available to Cover Private School Tuition At The Oaks School 

The Oaks School is thrilled to announce its approval as an Educational Service Provider (ESP) under Alabama's Choose Act. 

2. What is the CHOOSE Act?

The CHOOSE Act, officially known as the Creating Hope and Opportunity for our Student’s Education expands school choice options for families. It allows greater access to alternative education pathways, including private schools, charter schools, and homeschooling, through financial assistance and regulatory changes.

3. Key Features of the CHOOSE Act

Eligible families can receive $7,000 per participating student who is enrolled at The Oaks School. Tuition costs at The Oaks School are $$7000/year, so The Choose Act funds would cover the FULL cost of tuition at The Oaks School.  Participating families will be able to renew at the end of each school year, with priority given to families that have already participated. 

4. Who Qualifies?

• Must be a resident of Alabama and have AGI income that does not exceed 300 percent of the poverty level. (Gross income minus any deductions) 
• To be eligible as a kindergartener, must turn 5 by September 1, 2025.

One - $45,180

Two - $61,320

Three - $77,460

Four - $93,600 

Five - $109,740

Six - $125,880

Seven - $142,020

Eight - $158,160

5. Next Steps 

• Apply on January 2: Because of limited funding the first year, we encourage ALL families to apply on the initial start date of Jan. 2.  We will be available to help you with any questions that day. (approximately 14,000 scholarships available for the first year.)

You will need the following to apply

• Student Birth Certificate
• Proof of Alabama Residency - Includes documentation that matches the physical address  listed on the application. Examples include a recent tax return, state driver's license, state    issued ID, utility bill, voter registration card, mortgage statement, rental or lease agreement.
• Proof of Income - Includes documentation such as the most recent federal or state tax    return record, Form W-2 or 1099, Social Security statement, Temporary Assistance for    Needy Families (TANF) or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits  statement.

6. What else can the funds be used for?

Allowed: Supply fee, technology, school supplies, supplemental reading materials, tutoring, head phones, laptop under $1200 (not gaming) 

Not Allowed: Field trips, sports, food, uniforms, child care, no reimbursements
